The TBR NPC Keeper
I wanted to share a tool with the blogging community that I made for my various long-form campaigns. I tend to keep fairly detailed session notes, so I wanted a keeper that could help me to manage specific notes about specific non-player characters. Over the course of a few years I built up a database of over 2,000 names and surnames and made a spreadsheet that could spit out random permutations of those names if I needed to make an NPC on the fly. I then also track where the character was met, their profession, when they were met, and any other notes about their relationships to the players or other details that I improvised.
I was reminded of this keeper the other day and I want to share it with y'all! This current version provides prompts for their profession and a random quirk about them. I also put a quick 3d6 down the line generator at the top in case you are playing a game that uses the classic stat spread.
This current iteration generates 50 character prompts at a time, so you can quickly glance through and see if any ideas jump out at you. I recommend saving off a copy of this document so that you can add rows as you meet or write characters.
For an example of how I used this keeper during my His Majesty the Worm campaign, here's a screenshot below.
