Merry Hexmas! Blog Bandwagon - Snow Miser's Houseboat
I haven't even put out my decorative turkey deep frier and yet here I am, starting to celebrate Hexmas with Prismatic Wasteland. Details on the Hexmas Bandwagon here
The Snow Miser's Houseboat
When the Snow Miser needs to get away from the hustle and bustle of his castle, you can often find him relaxing in his home away from home. Tip of the Cap is a highly customized and sculpted iceberg which cruises around this little natural harbor; it stands out on the horizon as it follows lazy figure-eights around the ice floes.
Base Terrain: Ocean/Sea
Immediately Visible Features: This patch of the sea is a densely populated with ice floes and small bergs. One ice berg is clearly visible on the horizon (as long as visibility is clear) and it appears to be moving under its own power counter the gentle currents in the harbor.
- It would be extraordinarily challenging, but not impossible, to cross the hex by foot if the party had sufficient poles to use like gondoliers
 - It's more practical to attempt to cross the region with small personal watercraft like a canoe or a rowboat
 - Any larger vessel must be ironclad or otherwise hardened against collisions with small bergs or it will take 1d8 hull damage for every watch spent sailing.

Tip of the Cap:
- There is a 2-in-6 chance that the Snow Miser is relaxing onboard his vacation home.
â—‹ If he is there, then his personal dinghy, the Wag of the Finger will be lashed to the stern and his crew of leopard seals that pull it will be lounging on the aft deck, lazily eating mackerel from buckets
â—‹ What is the Snow Miser doing? Roll 1d6:
| Die | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 | He is practicing a new song to diss his brother, the Heat Miser. He is struggling find a good tune. |
| 2 | He is trying to resolve some engine troubles in the Tip of the Cap. The impeller seems to be clogged up and he doesn't want to get in the water to check the intake |
| 3 | He is snowbathing on the top deck and will not take kindly to being interrupted |
| 4 | He is fishing off the side deck. For some reason, the fish aren't biting today, and he suspects his brother's meddling |
| 5 | He is ice skating on the fore deck and is in the mood for a friendly competition |
| 6 | He is setting up a telescope for some evening stargazing but is missing his set of lenses. He would compensate you handsomely for finding some |
- If the Snow Miser is not onboard, a rowdy group of penguins are scuttling around the decks of the Tip of the Cap, vandalizing it with a preternatural instinct for mean sayings
 - The key rooms onboard are:
- Captain's Quarters. The personal bunk room for the Snow Miser. There's a locked ice chest at the foot of his bed which contains a painting of the Miser brothers in an embrace and his signature Vaudeville Cap, which chills the wearer's body to 0 degrees Celsius without disrupting their natural body functions
 - Engine Room. A network of pipes routes through this natural hollow in the iceberg, humming and shuttling fluids
§ Hidden: The Engine Room contains a hatch into a concealed artillery compartment. The Tip of the Cap is armed with a broadside ice cannon on both the port and starboard. The mechanism for firing is unclear, it does not seem to be gunpowder. - Aft Deck. A nice working platform, about the size of a tennis court
 - Fore Deck: A cozy mirror-polished ice rink stretches across the foc'stle with access to the Captain's Quarters
 - Top Deck: A flat platform accessible only from the Captain's Quarters. The Snow Miser's flag flies confidently.
 - Mess: A tiny little galley full of frozen and cured fish. Hard to tell if this is for the leopards or for the Miser. There's also a wooden chest of salt on a small platform to prevent any spilling onto the ice superstructure
